Catherine Edwards
Catherine, a Texas native, began her journey in dance with ballet, as many little girls do. Over the years, she transitioned from ballet to tap dancing, dedicating her time until she shifted to theater, where she performed in show groups and Broadway productions in high school. Catherine showcased her talent in various performances, including Annie Get Your Gun, Alice in Wonderland, My Fair Lady, and The Importance of Being Earnest. Through her experiences in theater and Broadway, Catherine gained valuable insights into the stage, stage presence, and choreography. In 2005, she pursued her studies in theater and music at Lone Star College.
In 2009, Catherine relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where she launched her career in professional ballroom dancing. She started competing nationwide both as a professional and with her students, while also instructing ballroom dance lessons full-time. Catherine trained with renowned coaches who have worked with stars from Dancing With the Stars, such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd. She achieved national certification in ballroom dances through DVIDA, a globally recognized syllabus of ballroom dance.
After returning to Texas in 2013, Catherine began her work in the wedding industry in Houston, focusing on choreographing wedding dances for couples. She collaborated with several top wedding event planners in Houston and taught countless couples their first dance for their big day! In January 2023, Catherine established Space City Dance to resume her ballroom dance instruction while continuing her success in offering wedding dance lessons. With years of experience, Catherine possesses a deep love and passion for teaching and performing dance, and she delights in sharing that passion with others!
